LIVE FROM THE ASTROTURF, ALICE COOPER with COLD COLD COFFIN

  • Theatre 80 St Marks 80 Saint Marks Place New York, NY, 10003 United States (map)

In LIVE FROM THE ASTROTURF, Alice Cooper reunites with the surviving members of the original lineup of the group to perform a blistering set on a small stage of pink astroturf at independent music store Good Records in Dallas, TX, 40 years after the band parted ways. Store owner Chris Penn pulls off the near insurmountable task of organizing the event and keeping Alice's appearance a secret until the original shock-rocker hits the stage. This four-time award winning documentary has been playing to sold-out audiences at international film festivals, and is making its first appearance in New York. Q&A will follow screening with Steve Gaddis, Christopher Penn, Dennis Dunaway and Cindy Smith Dunaway. Based on the song 'COLD COLD COFFIN' by Dennis Dunaway (Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee, Founding Member of The Alice Cooper Group), this Rock Cinema Short tells the story of a wealthy tycoon who discovers his young bride married him for his Estate. Heartbroken and angry, he exacts revenge by having himself cryogenically frozen in order to outlive her so she can't get his money. Q&A will follow screening with Dennis Dunaway, Brian Cichocki, Cindy Smith Dunaway, Calico Cooper, Peter Perenyi and Sean Quinn. The program will close with a live music set featuring Dennis Dunaway and Special Guests. There will be an after party in the William Barnacle Tavern located in the Theatre 80 lobby.
